2014 Summer Savannah Events

Savannah eventsSummer is nearly here, so it’s time to start planning how you will spend the next several months. Number one on your priority list needs to be making a trip to Savannah – Georgia’s First City! Surrounded by immaculate history, beaches, dining, and nightlife, Savannah has plenty to do for you and the whole family. With so many options, though, we know it can be hard to narrow down exactly what to do while you’re in town. That’s why we have created a list of our favorite Savannah events that you can check out this summer. Here it is in alphabetical order.

2014 Tybee Tour of Homes
Georgia’s Beach presents the 2014 Tybee Tour of Homes, showcasing nine homes on the island. Lunch will be provided, while guests will get to tour houses ranging from coastal cottages to oceanfront mansions. The event is on June 7 and costs $40 with advanced purchase.

Brews, Blues and BBQ benefitting LLS
This party on June 7 serves two purposes: to kick off summer with a bang and to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The event is $10 and gives you access to cheap drinks and $5 BBQ sandwiches. In addition to the outstanding food and drink, live music will be on stage from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Father’s Day Brunch Cruise
Savannah Riverboat Cruises provides an excellent Father’s Day Brunch Cruise for dad and the whole family. Father’s Day is on June 15 this year, and tickets will be $43.95 for adults and $23.95 for children ages 4-12.

Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon
This exhibition runs from April 4 – July 27 at the Jepson Center for the Arts and captures the essence of an American icon – Marilyn Monroe. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students.

New York Accents: The New York Influence on Telfair’s Collections
This art exhibit will showcase fine art objects from Telfair Museums’ permanent collection. The exhibit will be at Telfair Academy and is $12 for a single-site visit or $20 for a three-site pass.

River Street Fourth of July Celebration & Fireworks Extravaganza
Come to River Street on July 4 to experience this fun celebration of American patriotism. The fireworks extravaganza will begin around 9 p.m., but the event will kick off at 4 p.m. Bring a chair, listen to the music, and enjoy the light show. Also, you can come to Savannah every month for the First Friday celebration that always culminates with fireworks.

Savannah Live and Jukebox! at The Savannah Theatre
The Savannah Theatre will continue to showcase two shows throughout the summer: Savannah Live (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) and Jukebox! (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday). Tickets are $35 for adults and $17 for children (tax not included).

Savannah Sand Gnats
The Savannah Sand Gnats – the Class A affiliate of the New York Mets – will have home stands throughout the summer. Tickets range in price from $8-$10, making the ballpark an affordable option for family fun.

Sixth Sense Savannah Ghost Tours
The Ghost Tours will take place all summer long and cost between $15-$30. Guests will get to experience such topics as poltergeists, exorcisms, and spirit forms over the course of two hours.

Sunday Jazz Brunch
Every Sunday you can pop into the Aqua Star Seafood Kitchen from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. to hear live music by Jeremy Davis and the Equinox Jazz Trio. Tickets are $39.95 for adults and $15 for children ages 5-12.
