Spend Christmas on the River or enjoy a Holiday Open House. You can perfect your gift-wrapping, sing along to your favorite Christmas carols, or even take part in the Savannah Bridge Run. Participate in one or all of these things to do in Savannah in December!
Savannah Harbor Festival of Lights
This drive-through light experience showcases over 80 larger-than-life displays. Hosted by the Savannah Harbor Foundation and Savannah Morning News, the Savannah Harbor Festival of Lights has surprises hiding between every twist and turn. The Staples Safari Zoo will also showcase wonderful, exotic animals from around the world. Enjoy an Entertainment Pavilion, as well as the interactive animal shows.
Holiday Open House
Listen to the sounds of Christmas carolers, visit with Father Christmas and sample holiday treats in the shops. There will be hundreds of lights! Bring an unwrapped toy to drop off in the Holiday Hope collection box. The open house starts at 6 o’clock.
December 6 – December 7
Christmas on the River
Make your way to the Savannah Riverfront and get into the holiday spirit. Rousakis Plaza will be full of art exhibitors with holiday gifts and stocking stuffers, and music will take place on the Arbor Stage. Savannah’s Lighted Christmas Parade kicks off at 5:30 p.m. traveling downtown and ending at Ellis Square. Don’t miss it!
Enmark Savannah Bridge Run
Take part in a 5K, 10K, ½ mile Kids Run or Double Pump! This is the one and only Savannah Bridge Run and it helps a good cause. Proceeds and donations will benefit the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s/Candler.
Savannah’s Annual Holiday Tour of Homes
A community project of Savannah’s Downtown Neighborhood Association, the Holiday Tour of Homes features six different houses on each tour. There are a total of 12 historic homes on the afternoon and evening house tours. One of the magnificent private residences in Savannah (not included on the house tours) has been selected as the venue for the Victorian Tea offered by the Downtown Garden Club between the afternoon and evening home tours. The tea and treats will be served by ladies dressed in the style of the Victorian Period. How fun!
Sing along to “Sleigh Ride,” “O Holy Night,” and “Hallelujah Chorus!” You’ll hear Soloists Michelle Jarrell (soprano) and Harry O’Donoghue (Irish Folksinger). Tickets are priced at $36, $60, and $100. Book early for your favorite holiday concert at the beautiful Cathedral of St. John the Baptist!
Telfair Museum’s Free Family Day
This is a holiday special with do-it-yourself card and printmaking, along with wrapping how-to demonstrations. Free family days are great for all ages. Come spend the day and enjoy yourself. It’s appropriate for ages 3 to 99. Workshops run from 1 to 4 p.m.
