Do you like to vacation in colorful historic cities? Savannah will not disappoint! This beautiful city predates the Revolutionary War! It was founded in 1733 by James Oglethorpe, who arrived from England with 114 settlers. According to the Georgia Historical Society, their aim was to increase trade and navigation and also to act as a buffer between Florida, which was controlled by the Spanish, and the rest of the northern English colonies during the Spanish War.
