When staying at the Presidents’ Quarters Inn, we figured you could use some suggestions when it comes to what’s best in town. The Best of Savannah Readers Poll special issue breaks down everything from arts and culture to shopping and recreation.

Here are a few highlights from this year’s Best of Savannah:

City Life

Best Bike Path – Rails to Trails

This is a unique 6-mile trail with an intriguing history. It follows the path of the old Tybee rail line that once connected Savannah to the beaches of Tybee Island. It is open to walkers, runners, and bikers.

Best Place of Worship – Cathedral of St. John the Baptist

This Roman Catholic Cathedral sits at 222 East Harris Street. It is a parish that is “rich in history and filled with spirit.” The first cornerstone was laid in the late 1700s.

Best Tour Company – Old Savannah Tours

Bringing Savannah’s history to life, Old Savannah Tours offers a wide range of tours. From historic to haunted, there’s something for everyone. It was voted best tour every year since 2003 and is the largest Savannah-owned and operated company. Locals ride for free!

Food

Best New Restaurant – The 5 Spot

This new restaurant is a casual neighborhood kitchen and bar in Habersham Village. It serves an American menu and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Best Food Event – Savannah Jewish Food Festival

The annual Jewish Food Festival features all the classics like matzoh ball soup, blintzes and challah. It’s often referred to simply as “Shalom Y’all,” and will celebrate its 25th edition this October.

Best Italian Restaurant – Leoci’s Trattoria

The pasta is made fresh on site at Leoci’s Trattoria. You’ll enjoy delicious Italian favorites and a boisterous atmosphere.

Best Seafood Restaurant – The Crab Shack

This is one of the all-time perennial winners in the history of the Readers Poll. It continues to be a favorite among those looking for fresh seafood.

Nightlife

Best Place to Spot a Celebrity – The Jinx

The Jinx has won in numerous categories for years and years. This year, it won Best Overall Bar, Downtown Bar, Live Music Bar, Happy Hour, Bar Staff and more!

Best Islands Bar – Molly McGuire’s

This hot spot has been on Wilmington Island for just over three years. People come to Molly McGuire’s for its food, frozen drinks and family friendly atmosphere. It has been referred to as an “outdoor Cheers.”

Best Upscale Bar – Circa 1875 Gastro Pub

You’ll find delicious martinis, candlelight and the opportunity to rub elbows with Savannah’s elite at Circa 1875 Gastro Pub. It hopes to expand in the future and incorporate even more of an authentic Parisian feel.

Recreation, Health & Beauty

Best Yoga Studio – Savannah Yoga Center

This studio on Bull Street has been chosen for the past seven years in a row. It offers a variety of classes all day long.

Best Massage Therapist – Spa Bleu

Spa Bleu is located at the corner of Bull and Broughton Streets. Known as the downtown oasis, try their Raindrop Aromatherapy Massage.
