Savannah History Museum
If you are looking to learn more about Savannah’s unique history specifically, then you will definitely want to check out the Savannah History Museum. The museum is located in an old train station, and you’ll find both permanent and rotating exhibits that chronicle the history of Savannah.
The Georgia Historical Society
One of the best museums in Savannah and a great site for learning about Georgia’s state history, the Georgia Historical Society (GHS) is the “premier independent statewide institution responsible for collecting, examining, and teaching Georgia history. GHS houses the oldest and most distinguished collection of materials related exclusively to Georgia history in the nation.”
Roundhouse Railroad Museum
Take time to learn more about the railroads that shaped and defined our nation and the state of Georgia. “Enjoy a close-up view of the fully operational turntable, learn about the many historic rail cars and rolling stock on display, and experience the handcar with the help of a knowledgeable and friendly historic interpreter.”
