History

Elizabeth on 37th was opened in 1981 by Chef Elizabeth Terry and her husband Michael. The couple had a vision of a restaurant dedicated to classic Southern recipes, and Elizabeth investigated the gastronomy of 18th and 19th Century Savannah to learn about its thriving culinary scene.

In 1988, long-time employees Greg and Gary Butch partnered with the Terry’s.This dynamic combination assured the continuance of Elizabeth’s high standards of great cuisine and service. Today, locals and tourists flock to the circa-1900 Thomas Square mansion for a true taste of Savannah.

The Chef

Chef Kelly Yambor has been at the helm of Elizabeth on 37th since 1996. Her recipes make full use of fresh coastal seafood, local produce, and the restaurant’s homegrown herbs. For a truly unique experience, we recommend splurging for the chef’s seven-course tasting menu. You’ll enjoy everything from crab cakes with Southern-fried grits to honey-roasted pork tenderloin with shiitake and oyster mushrooms. The Food

Each evening, Elizabeth on 37th offers guests a seasonal menu and nightly specials. Dinner comes with appropriate sides and vegetables, and a salad is served beforehand. If you’re in the mood for an appetizer, start with the Half Moon River clams served with roasted Vidalia onions, country ham, and truffle oil. Or try the pan-seared sea scallops topped with tuna tartare. When it’s time to choose your entrée, opt for the Coastal Grouper Celeste. This longtime best-seller features a sesame-almond-crusted fish with peanut sauce and roasted potatoes. Another popular dish is the spicy Savannah red rice. It’s served with Georgia Shrimp, clams, sausage, grouper, and okra. Yum!
