About the Savannah Film Festival 2017

The Savannah Film Festival hosts a number of events over the course of eight days. You’ll find everything from independent film screenings and workshops to panels, lectures, and exclusive receptions. There are also several honored guests who will be announced as the festival draws near. Honored guests from recent years include Alfie Allen from HBO’s Game of Thrones, Miles Teller from 2014’s critically acclaimed music drama Whiplash, and four-time Emmy and two-time Golden Globe winner Gena Rowlands.

Alfie Allen was born in London, England and has played an intricate role in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones since 2011. He was the recipient of the Rising Star Award at the 2015 Savannah Film Festival. He has continued to further his acting career with his ongoing role in GOT. It’s one of the most popular television series of all time!

Miles Teller got his big break in 2010 when Nicole Kidman hand picked him to appear alongside her in the film Rabbit Hole. He hasn’t looked back since! At the 2016 Savannah Film Festival, Miles was presented the Vanguard Award for his creative drive and determination when developing his characters. He also screened the sports drama Bleed For This, where he plays a boxer who will stop at nothing to achieve greatness. With starring roles in War Dogs, The Fantastic Four, Divergent, and Whiplash, Miles Teller is considered one of the fastest growing names in Hollywood.

In 2014, the Savannah Film Festival awarded Gena Rowlands the Lifetime Achievement Award. Over the course of six decades, she has graced stages, television sets, and the big screen and has amassed over 60 different roles! Some of her most popular appearances include A Woman Under the Influence, Hope Floats, The Skeleton Key, and The Notebook. The longevity and success of her career is one that actors and actresses of all ages dream of emulating. She has even starred alongside cinema’s most revered and prolific actors and filmmakers. Some of these individuals include Peter Falk, Buck Henry, Ryan Gosling, and Angelina Jolie.
