1. The Savannah Historic District
No trip to Savannah is complete without a visit to the city’s historic downtown area. In 1733, General James Oglethorpe arrived in Savannah and made plans to grow the colony into a bustling American town. Oglethorpe’s plan consisted of a series of parks and squares, with lots on the east and west sides for public buildings and churches. Today, the Savannah, GA, historic district an incredible sight to behold. You’ll see gorgeous homes, beautiful squares, and horse-drawn carriages throughout downtown. Make sure to take a guided walking or trolley tour to see all of the sights!
2. Owens-Thomas House
Designed by William Jay, the Owens-Thomas House is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. This historic home is considered to be one of the finest examples of English Regency architecture. It is located on beautiful Oglethorpe Square and you can tour it every day of the week!
3. Forsyth Park
With 30 scenic acres to explore, Forsyth Park is the largest park in downtown Savannah. It’s one of the best free things to do in Savannah, GA!
